Houston to San Francisco in 7 days

Is it possible to see anything during a five day driving trip from Houston to San Francisco in July? What are the most scenic drives?

Your options are really endless as far as routes go. Here are a few.

Taking I-45 to Dallas, I 35 to Oklahoma City & I-40 with a short detour thought the Petrified Forest. You can make a little detour up to the Grand Canyon and still make it to SF in 5 days. I-40 is a pretty scenic route.

Taking I-10 to Fort Stockton, Texas then taking a little detour and going north to Carslbad Caverns National Park and coming back down thought Guadalupe Mountains National Park and I-10. In California you could make a detour though Joshua Trees National Monument just off I-10 and you can avoid Los Angeles by taking Hwy 247 up to just past Victorville and then take Hwy 395 to Hwy 58 and then take Hwy 58 all the way over to I-5.
