2 women on a mission
Hi my partner and I will starting our Road Trip the day after Memorial Day
Starting point: NJ ---Point furthest West: Las Vegas
We have places that we want to go to and through:
New Orleans, Houston, the Alamo, El Paso, 4 Corners area, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Mount Rushmore, Chicago, Pittsburg and Home.
How does that sound????
We have 3 weeks, I'm not sure how this will all work out.
We are going to get a Trunk Tent (has anyone ever used this) and we figure if we arrive somewhere we would want to spend the night and it is still light out- we will camp; if we are driving into the night then we would find a motel. We will be spending at least 2 nights in New Orleans and Salt lake city.
So let me know what you think. We are 2 female artist who like simple things and if you know any along the way please share.
thanks :}

That's a lot of driving
for three weeks time.
When you leave Las Vegas for Salt Lake City take a litte detour to Zion National Park. Just past St. George take Hwy 9 to Zion. Then exit the park going east on Hwy 9 and then take Hwy 89 to Hwy 12 to Bryce Canyon National Park. Take Scenic Hwy 12 to Torrey, Utah. This is one of the most scenic drives in the US...believe me! In Torrey go the short distance to Capitol Reef National Park. Then you can head back to I-15 to Salt Lake City.

I think you should do fine time-wise. My boyfriend and I, ironically, are leaving NJ the same time as you are. We have 29 days of traveling and are taking a similar route, but are not going as far south, and will go all the way to California, and up the Pacific coast. We have it mapped out to take 25 days, with 4 days to play with. So I think that 3 weeks, being you are not going as far west, should be fine. I have not heard of a trunk tent; we got a Coleman tent for $70 at Walmart.com; on the coleman website it was almost double that price.
If you are artists you may want to stop in Sedona, Arizona. Friends of my boyfriend highly recommended it to us, and when I checked it out online it said it is an artists' haven, with many scenic views. Also we will be visiting at least 1-2 pueblos in New Mexico, which are similar to Indian reservations. New Mexico has an excellent website with amazing pictures and information, it is the best of any states' that I have seen.
