A few friends and I are planning a trip down to San Diego from Seattle and were wondering what places were worth seeing on the way down/up.

Redwood National Park
Mendocino is very cool. Great waves and amazing scenery -- good bars and eats.
Hard to pass by San Francisco without a stop.
What kinds of places interest you?
We dont have much time at all. We were just looking for places to stop by and take pictures. If it was nice, we were thinking of driving along the oregon coast and highway 1 into san diego
If you're going during Spring Break and you drive along Hwy 101 you'll be able to see the gray whales heading north with their new babies.
Or if you're on I-5 stop by the Oregon Vortex - balls roll uphill and other crazy stuff!
The views are some of the most spectacular in the world! However, much of the road is very twisty and 2-lane. You will not be able to make "fast" tracks. If you drove over the coast at Olympia on US-12 and then drove south on US-101 and stayed on the coast all the way, including shifting to CA-1 at Leggett, California (some of the most amazing coast line you will see) and continued south across the Golden Gate bridge and went back to Highway One past Halfmoon Bay & Monterey you will reach the stretch known as the "Big Sur" and then on to Los Angeles to pick up I-5 into San Diego. If you did all of the coast route as above, it will take you a minimum of 3 days. If you don't have that much time to reach San Diego, you may have to travel some inland interstates.
How much time have you alloted to reach San Diego?
