    Default Chicago to Phoenix

My daughter and I will be driving to Phoenix from Chicago in February (yes, this month, soon). Any ideas of the best route to take this time of year, and what there might be to see along the way? We will have hotels lined up along the way once we map out our course and are looking at about a 4 day trip.

    Default Don't plan too much

Are you sure that you need to pre-book motels? One of the best things about roadtrips is that you can build in some flexibility. As far as routes -- you could always follow some of the original "Mother Road" -- Rte. 66.

I-70 is incredible in the winter months -- The Colorado Rockies are great. I would head south on US-191 (in Utah) and take a few hours at Arches NP and then continue south to Monument Valley and then on to Phoenix. There are a number of postings about I-70 and Monument Valley on this forum.

    Enjoy!
