Chicago to Las Vegas in June

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated - planning on taking a roadtrip at the end of June, beginning of July from Chicago to Las Vegas. I definitely want to see Utah, but what else? Help!

My roommate is actually moving to LA at the beginning of March and lucky me, my spring break falls on the day he is leaving! So I invited myself..ha! This is my first real road trip and is something I've wanted to do for a long time. So far the options seem overwhelming, but very exciting. We plan on staying in Las Vegas for a few days once we make it, but we want to see everything. I'd be happy to share our adventure with you once we go.
