Day trips out of Santa Fe
Two women off to New Mexico. We're looking for fun day trips out of the Albuquerque/Santa Fe/Taos area. We've done most of the travel book day trips--Acoma, Angel Fire, Rio Grande Gorge, Turquoise Trail, Sandia, Abuiqui, Bandalier, Los Alamos. We're looking for new adventures. Chaco Canyon is too far and too remote for us--we're looking for a break between opera, shopping and dining.
Also looking for good restaurants in the area. Hate to miss a good meal!
Any suggestions?

Angel Fire and Bosque del Apache
Bosque del Apache is south of Socorro off of I-25. This is probably not the best time of year, but if you can ever manage to get back in Feburary --- you have to go to witness 10,000 geese, ducks and cranes leaving the marshes in the early morning to go feed. The bird watching season there is November to March. Words can not truly express the thrill of being there. There is a brief commentary from one of our early journals at http://www.roadtripamerica.com/journals/Number12.htm
One of the most memorable places in the world to us is the DAV memorial at Eagle's Nest near Angel Fire Ski resort northeast of Taos. http://www.roadtripamerica.com/places/angel.htm

day trip out of santa fe
Hey, just got back from my trip to Santa Fe. Found a wonderful day hike to Tent Rocks. It's about an hour's drive south west of Santa Fe.--easy hike--very spectacular, highly recommended to anyone in the area.
