New York to LA in 7days... HELP!

Hi,

I am driving to LA in August, starting point-New York City.It's my first road trip and I am trying to find a route that will get me there on time but will also be fun and memorable along the way. Safety is a factor being that I'm female and I will have a rather obvious u-haul trailer attached to by bumbper. Any assitance you can offer would be appreciated more than you know.

Hey Mo. I just went on Yahoo and checked out the map. I think going straight across is the fastest. I am going alone in June. I've traveled alone to Florida 5 times so i don't feel unsafe. I guess the safest is to not look like a tourist and ask the wrong people for info. If i was going with someone i would either share an expense for a motel or a campground. Although, you can stay in Hostels for less then some motels. Go on Yahoo and type in 'hostel' in you want info. They are really safe and clean. Otherwise, good luck and have a safe trip!!

just wondering if anyone drove from TO/NY to LA lately and had a semi-scenic, quick and safe route to share. Driving and hoping to take 4.5 days.
