    Default Buying a car?

    I'm planning on a good 'ol coast to coast with a friend. The trip should take about 2 months.
    Someone told me that it would be cheaper to BUY a car rather than rent one.

    Any tips or thoughts?

    How mechanical are you? Do you like to spend a portion of every day working on cars? You can probably find a good rental for about $1200. It would be a late model with very few miles. Or you could purchase a clunker for the same amount of money and expect the break-downs. The problem with the rental is the problem of exceeding the rental agencies sphere of insurance coverage. DriveAway is maybe a better option for you.
