Road Greetings, We would love to be able to create and provide such a site, we have been working on the underpinnings of such an on-line service for about two years -- Preliminary cost for even a rudimentary relational database is a low seven figure investment. So... you gotta do some of the work yourself!

Route 66
I am also planning this trip as a surpise for my English boyfriend. Go to google.com and type in Route 66. There are several websites and the best one I found was http://route66.netvision.com. It give maps and even detailed directions. Also check out Amazon and there are several really good books you can get. Hope this helps. Have fun
