Trip to Panama

Planning on buying a motorhome in California and making a trip down to Panama (Bocas del Toro). Are there people out here who have experience traveling Central America and want to share information regarding safety, campgrounds, visas, scenic routes, places to visit/avoid, insurances and more ?
