    Default routes?

    i'm heading out of NYC and heading to the Bay Area.I want to get there quickly but have some fun along the way. Any route suggestions?

    Default The Sierras

    In the last part of your trip, for some absolutely gorgeous country, I'd head south out of Reno, pick up Nevada-431 to Lake Tahoe, make the circle of Lake Tahoe, then continue into Sacramento on US-50. It won't take you too much extra time, Tahoe is superb, and you'll see more of the Sierra on US-50 than you will on I-80. You can then pick up I-80 in Sacramento to head into the Bay area. If you're a history or train buff, Old Town Sacramento and the California State Railroad Museum in Old Town are each worth a few hours. Enjoy!
