    Default Speed Limit in Montana?

    Are there currently any day-time speed limits in Montana? I heard that the no-speed-limit allowance was lifted recently, is this true?

    Default That is news to us

    I had not heard about this change. The one thing you need to be aware about MT is that the speed is subject to interpretation by the state police officer on the scene.

    Default There is a speed limit now in MT

    On the Montana Dept of Transportation website it says:

    "THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT. 75 IS.
    Starting May 28, 1999, Montana hasa posted speed limit - just like every other state. What is the speed limit? Check the chart below:

    75mph = Interstate
    65mph = Urban areas
    70/day and 65mph/nite = Other highways
    65mph = US 93

    So now you know. Slow down and take some time to enjoy the Big Sky Country."

    Default Thanks for news!

    Francesca,

    Thanks so much for looking up the information. I knew that "open speed limit" was too good to last. But I agree that everyone should slow down and look around at the "Treasure" state!
