  1. Default Going to Vegas in March

    Hi Guys,

I last used this brilliant site back in 2009 when i did a trip from Houston to Vegas (return) in a Corvette ZHZ.

This time around i am flying in to Vagas in the first two weeks of March (2011) for my wifes cousins wedding. I really wanted to visit some places and do some driving while i am out there. I have once again booked the Corvette and wanted some advice on where i can go that is not too far from vegas with the car on a bit of a bite sized road trip (not the 3000miles+ i did last time). I would luv to visit a ghost town of some sort and drive on straight roads with amazing scenary. I have already been to hoover dam and grand canyon.

    You thoughts are welcomed.

How much time will you actually have "on the road?"

RTA is based out of Vegas, because it is a perfect roadtrip hub. Some of the possibilities beyond the Grand Canyon could include a trip to Utah's great parks like Zion and Bryce, or a trip west to the California Desert, visiting Death Valley or Joshua Tree, or going even farther west across the Sierra Nevada mountains to Yosemite and Sequoia, or even all the way to the coast.

Once you've got a better idea of where you want to head, we can certainly do more to help you put things into better focus.

    Default Day trips or further.

This RTA page has some great day trip suggestions from Vegas. There is the Mojave National preserve to the South and if you don't mind the odd night or 2 away from Vegas you could search a little further such as to the North where you could visit Cathedral Gorge State park and the Great basin NP and Lehman caves.

or going even farther west across the Sierra Nevada mountains to Yosemite and Sequoia,
Although Yosemite is a possibility [depending on] you will have to go around the Southern end of the mountains as the passes will be still be close in March

Well after talking to the wife it seems i have been allowed to do only a one day trip as she has booked us lots to do in vegas with her family! So where can i go in a day and get to drive on those straight and clear roads?

    Thank you for the reply.

    Default DV for me !

You have the choices, if it were me I would more than likely go and have a 'play' in Death valley's incredible landscape.

[As a matter of fact that is on my "to do list" with a Shelby Cobra, albeit a replica]
