  1. Default NY to Missoula and beyond

My wife (co-driver) and I plan on driving to Missoula (then on to Glacier NP) from the NYC metro area in late Aug/early Sept via our Outback. Looking at South Bend as our first nights destination (accomodations, either camping, or motel suggestions?)
From there the next day thru Chicago and on I-90-94 towards MT. I'm an Iron Butt mc rider so long hauls are not an issue for me so we may do 700-800 miles a day. I-90 seems the nicer route but we've been to Rapid City, SD and have seen the sites (Rushmore/Crazy Horse) there. Are there must see sights along I-94 in ND? We plan on moteling and camping depending on our mood. We would like rooms with mini kitchens. Any suggestions besides lowering the amount of mileage per day.

BTW from MT we plan to go to NM via ID, UT, we've been to SLC, Yellowstone, Moab/Zion, Grand Canyon. Any route suggestions?

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

I've always enjoyed the trip across North Dakota on I-94, and Teddy Roosevelt is a great hidden gem of the National Park system. There are also a couple of very nice state parks along the way that I've stayed at.

For motel chains with full kitchens (assuming you want more than just a fridge/microwave), I've used the Mainstay Suites chain and the Extended Stay America chain - with ESA usually having better prices, and you can get a $10 coupon if you sign up for their email list.
