If possible, you should really make time for Crater Lake. It's certainly out of the way in Southern Oregon, but it's beautiful. If you're considering Mt. Shasta ... you can't miss Crater Lake.
(Editor's Note: For a stunning photo of Crater Lake, check this page out....)

Welcome to the RTA Forum!
One of the thing about a forum such as this, you will only be able to get out of it what you put into it. Right now, you're going to have to put in a little more information before we can be of much help.
The direct route for your trip would simply be to follow I-5, and you can make the trip in as little as a day and a half. However, there are lots of options and potential stops that you could consider. You need to tell us how much time you have for this trip, why you are doing this, and what other things you might be interested in.
On your way to San Francisco, take a slight detour and go see 'Old Faithful of California' at Calistoga, one of only three geysers in the world which perform regularly. (The others being Yellowstone and New Zealand.)
It is a pity this great attraction is not better known.
