Some of the national park pages are confusing. I'm wondering which of these would be covered by a single national parks pass (in a car of 5) and in which ones the 4 other travelers would have to pay their individual way in. I'm also wondering which of these has free camping:

Grand Canyon
Zion
Death Valley
Sequoia
Kings Canyon
Yosemite
Redwood
Crater Lake
Glacier
Yellowstone
Grand Teton
Wind Cave
Badlands

Here is the official version of what works:
The National Parks Pass admits the pass owner and any accompanying passengers in a private vehicle* if a park has a per vehicle entrance fee. Where a per person entrance fee is charged, the National Parks Pass admits the pass owner, spouse, children and parents. The National Parks Pass is nontransferable and does NOT cover or reduce use fees such as charges for camping, parking, tours, and concessions.

If your group is not a "nuclear-family" it still should be no problem -- but I guess you will find out when you visit your first park. The person presenting the card will have to have photo ID to prove that they are the person "named" on the card.

I am not aware of any free campground -- except for back-country locations.
