Seattle, WA to Charlottesville, VA

Hey, all!

My fiance and I are relocating to Charlottesville, VA and we're just starting our research for the road trip over.
We're hoping to take 12-13 days and are planning to take a northern route.
Currently we're trying to decide whether it makes sense to head north first and see some of the Canadian Rockies and then sprint across the country for most of the rest of the way. Otherwise we would head straight east, stopping in glacier np and spend some more time in Michigan and maybe try to make it all the way to Maine, then take the coastal route south.

Obviously we're in the beginning stages of this! Thoughts? Advice? Resources?

With your timeframe, I might try following US-2 east as far as you can, before you need to take a turn and head for home. But the Canadian Rockies are pretty spectacular too.

US-2 was discussed recently in this thread, so that might give you some ideas.

Are you taking a moving van, or are you having your stuff shipped? If you're bringing your stuff with you, I might stay with a US route, just to avoid any potential headaches at the border.
