Colorado springs to Somewhere (4 days road trip)

Three of us (friends, all in mid 20's) are planning to go on a road trip on 4th of July weekend (Leaving Friday evening and back on Wednesday Morning)

Ideal roadtrip would be somewhere in the north or northeast. I have seen most of Colorado, New Mexico and been to yellowstone. I was thinking about driving to Minneapolis and back. Other places are Montana or North Dakota.

We just want to drive and stop at intersesting sites, take easy hikes (1-2 mile) and take lots of pictures.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Hi,

I agree with Mark. Southwest SD has so much to do. Besides the Badlands, there is Wind Cave NP, Jewel Cave and Mt. Rushmore. Deadwood is also a lot of fun. On the way you could see Devil's Tower in northeast WY.

I have a great interest in Native American culture also, in fact, at the end of my wedding ceromony last fall, the minister had a Native America blessing. It was very spiritual and inspiring.

Thanks so much Mark and Diana. South Dakota it is. Tentative plan is to drive to Devils Tower, WY first. Then go to Deadwood --> Mount Rushmore --> Jewel Cave NP --> Wind Cave NP --> Badlands NP.

then return through Nebraska and Kansas.
