Thanks Brad, Ken, Judy, and Gen. This info you all have provided is MOST helpful! Sounds like making this two separate trips is a great idea. have had our TT for almost one year and have not gone on a long trip yet. Only local trips within 1-2 hours away from home so this would be quite an event for us. I have a F250 PSD and a 29' TT. Planning to make a journey such as this for the first time and making as few major errors so as to make the trip more enjoyable is my mission.
There are a million questions I have and you all have helped me wonderfully with some. Another question is this: I do not have a generator and I wonder if this would be necessary for a trip such as this. I think I would have to have it in the back of my truck because I'm not sure there would be enough room in the TT. Do any of you have any thoughts about this? Again thanks sooo much for you thoughts!

    Default I have no clue....

But I guess you need to ask yourself some questions:
    1. How many nights will you be without hook-ups?
    2. What do you need the generator for?
    3. Won't your propane and other fuel sources suffice?

And you've probably figured these questions out already so I'm probably no help at all.

I probably shouldn't even ask this...but what kind of mpg do you get and have you adequately budgeted for fuel for this trip?

Don't sweat the small stuff -- errors are just those things which lead to the best stories...

It comes down to evaluating your loads and/or whether or not you are using an inverter. Here is an excellent article about the kinds of inverters that are available. If you have an air conditioning unit or microwave in the TT (Travel Trailer) you might want to have a generator. For my tastes, I usually used an inverter (a lot quieter) but you need deep cell batteries.

Generators do provide a measure of boondocking support and if you like your creature comforts (run by A/C) I would think you ought to consider it.
