I NEED HELP - Planning trip in Summer

I'm going to Vegas in September.

I want to drive from there to LA. Does anyone know how long this takes?

Also, if i wanted to stoip in either San Fran or The OC how far a detour would this be via car?

I don't have much idea on driving in the US so any advice or websites would be great thanks

Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum! Depending upon where you are driving to in LA -- the trip will be about five hours.

There are about 200 posts covering this route between Las Vegas and San Francisco. The fastest possible route is about nine hours to San Francisco -- but it could also take 12-15 if you routed through Yosemite or Lake Tahoe. The fastest possible route between San Francisco and LA is eight hours, but it could take 9-11 hours if you went by the coast. If you stopped by Orange County enroute from Las Vegas to LA it could add 1-3 hours depending where in OC you were going and what you did there.
