Los Angeles- Washington DC

Hi,
I and my friend are planning to take a road trip at the end of this month from Los Angeles to Washington DC (I am moving to DC area, so we will have our car full as well ). We plan to do it in 10-12 days.
Can you please suggest some good places to visit on the way. We were planning to visit Grand Canyon for sure.
Any help would be appreciated.

With 10 to 12 days, you can see quite a number of the almost infinite number of attractions along the way.But which one's you hit depends on what your interests are. For natural beauty there's the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest, White Sands, Capulin Mountain, The Ozarks, the Land Between the Lakes, Mammoth Cave, and Great Smoky Mountains. For history there's Walnut Canyon, the petroglyphs outside of Albuqurque, Mesa Verde, the Mississippi, and any number of civil war battlefields through Tennessee and Virginia. There are also tons of museums, nightclubs, scenic byways, oddities and just plain kitsch. So what would make you happy?
