Default MD to CA - 1st timer

In June I am planning on driving back home to Palm Springs, CA from Maryland. It won't necessarily be a site seeing type of road trip. I have a Jeep Liberty and I will have a Uhaul trailer attached. I am really trying to figure out about how much I will be spending in gas. I know there is no one answer due to price changes, etc. However if anyone can give me an ideal of what I need to prepare for would be greatly appreciated.

There will be at least 2 drivers, if not 3. According to the different driving maps the mileage is approx. 2560 miles (38-40 hrs). Any links or very helpful books would be great also.

I have been considering trying to sell my items and just shipping my car and fly to Palm Springs. Not sure if it's worth it.

Again, thank you for any advise!!

    Default Lots of Advice Available!

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America forum.

Here's a handy-dandy Fuel Cost Calculator that lets you see what happens to your total fuel cost for your Jeep's mileage and different $/gal for gas. Don't forget to factor in that your Jeep will get significantly lower mileage while pulling a trailer. If you're going to look into shipping the Jeep, probably the cheapest way to do that is to use a 'drive away' company. Just search the web for that term and you'll come up with a few. Plus, we maintain links to some of the best ones out there, click here for more info. There are all kinds of planning and general interest tips available under the RoadTrip Planning button on the top toolbar, so have a look. And also be sure to read the Art of the Cheap RoadTrip.
