When you're in the colorful town of Bar Harbor, be sure to hop aboard the Margaret Todd or the Bailey Louise Todd, well-detailed replicas of old schooners, for a relaxing two-hour cruise of Frenchmman Bay. You'll catch glimpses of Acadia National Park, and pass close to several islands in the bay, and see hundreds of lobster buoys, while the crew fills you in on the fascinating history and natural lore of these waters and surrounding land masses. They'll even let you pitch in and assist in hauling a sail if you wish. And you may spot surfacing marine life, eagles or other interesting wildlife. Other tours are also available, including an excursion on a 1910 lobster boat.

The cruises depart from a kiosk at the gangway, near Bar Harbor Inn. Cruises operate mid-May to mid-October. Parking in Bar Harbor can be a challenge, but if you drive an RV, you can park free all day beside the athletic field at Main and Park Streets, about a 10 minute walk from the waterfront.
