Hi all,

My wife and I are planning another trip back over for my 40th this year and she's desperate to go back to Vegas. The plan is to fly to LA, drive to Vegas and back again and take in whatever we can. We have done all the touristy things before like Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Yosemite (although closed for fires) and she's not that bothered by San Francisco. She has said that she would like to do Route 66 again however.

I've done some digging on where Route 66 goes and at the moment I'm looking at a route from LA and possibly taking in Palm Springs up to Amboy to join R66, onto Essex/Needles up to Vegas on the 95 then back through Kelso to Amboy and onto Barstow, down to Victorville and into LA.

Now obviously being from the UK I don't know the exact details of the roads and just done that very roughly. Also not sure if there is anything else in the area that we should look at taking in. Time wise at the moment we have planned 10 days with 4 nights in Vegas so we have time to relax and take the driving easy.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received :)
