    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

Of course you can drive your own car. What concerns would you have about using it?

As far as any other advice, we simply don't know enough about you or what you hope to do to provide any significant advice. We don't even know where you're going! Texas is a huge place and a trip from DC to Houston would be dramatically different than a trip from DC to El Paso.

You also haven't told us if this is a one way trip or if you hope to make this a round trip in 7 days. Even if you're only going as far as Houston, 7 days would be a pretty quick round trip. You need a minimum of 2.5 days each way just for the drive. If you wanted to go to West Texas, you'd literally have to turn around as soon as you got there.

For other "advice" and "tips," I'd really suggest you spend a little time looking around this site - start by clicking on the "how to use this site" tab at the top of the page. As you provide some more specifics about your trip, and have some specific questions about your plans, we'll be glad to help.
