  1. Default Denver to San Francisco in November, bad idea?

I am considering a road trip on Nov 18 from Denver to San Fran, I have about a week time... I am a SoCal guy and have zero experience in driving in the snow.

How are the road conditions and is there enough places to check out in this time of the year?

Any advice and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

Default No need to be on the road in adverse weather.

Hi, and Welcome to the Great American Roadtrip Forum.

By keeping an eye on the forecast, you should be able to avoid most adverse weather. However, should a storm blow up and there is snow on the road you best get off it and check into the nearest hotel. Once the road crews have done their job, you can get on the road again. You are fortunate that you have a good amount of time for this trip.

Default And your interests are ?

It really depends on what you are looking for ? There is so much to see and do between Denver and SF the list would go on forever. I would do a little research by searching the forums and using maps and once you have a few points of interest a route will start to form. Once you have a couple of basics down we can help fill in the blanks and offer suggestions. If nature is your 'thing' then you have plenty of National and State parks to choose from, plus some awesome scenic drives , but the more info you offer us the more help we can be.

When planning you will have to consider that some mountain passes may be closed for the winter [or just temporary] such as the Trail Ridge road in Rocky mountain NP and the Tioga Pass into Yosemite. You could check out some of southern Utah's National parks and even visit the Grand canyon.
