Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
Route recommendations would be completely different if you were starting from the Port Jervis area vs. Cape May. So at the very least we would need to know what your initial point in New Jersey is. It would also help to know what kind of stops you'd be looking to make on your return drive. We simply don't do generic 'one-size-fits-all' suggestions - that's not, in our experience, the point of a RoadTrip

You could probably find most of what you are looking for, if you got out some good maps (such as are pro9duced by AAA). The information on those maps shows all major points of interest - natural, historical, touristy. If you are only looking at a computer screen, you miss out on all that valuable information.

While route, and any other specific advice, are going to depend upon the specifics of your trip, we can say that pretty much any place in Jersey is going to be about 600 miles from Dearborn. That's 10-12 hours on the road, and right at the very maximum of what a professional driver is allowed to do in a day. Essentially, you're talking about a speed run, so you aren't really going to be able to think much about places to explore, it's going to be about focusing on the job at hand - safely getting from point a to point b. Here are some suggestions for how to approach such a trip.
