Suggested stops and tips please - 3 month trip

Hey guys,
My boyfriend and i are planning to do a 3 month trip around the States and British Colombia - starting and finishing in Alberta Canada.
We have a van so will be mainly camping and fairly budget conscious.
Any tips for suggested sights, camping tips and general advice would be great greatly appreciated 😊

To be able to be of more help, what are the sights you are looking for? Natural, Historical, Night Life, Touristy places, etc. I know what I would go and see, but then that may not be what would interest you. What are you hoping to get out of this trip? Three months is a lot of time and could see you possibly covering almost every State.

Also 'camping' means different things to different people. Van camping or tent camping?

If you look down the bottom of this page you will see 'similar threads' which may give you some ideas, as will looking around the forums and Road Trip Field Reports, to help you decide.

When you're talking about a 3 month trip that will cover most of the North American Continent, the number of things you could potentially see and do is somewhere in the billions. Similarly, "Camping Tips" and "General Advice" are also such vague questions that no one can really know where to start to even begin providing useful information.

Of course, this entire site is filled with things that can help you with your planning. If you go up to the "How to use this site" tab at the top of the screen, you'll find a huge amount of information about things to see, and other general advice. If after reading through some of that, you have some specific questions, others on the forum will be more than happy to help.

Another question would be: WHEN will this trip take place? (What season/s?) That could be a big factor, as certain places may or may not be open year-round.
