Planning west coast rv trip

I need ideas on planning a fun rv trip somewhere on the west coast with grandkids ages 9, 10 & 11. We like camping in quiet places, trees, water, wilderness, etc. We have 2 1/2 weeks starting in San Diego. We plan on leaving the first week in May. Our Rv is 31 foot.
Any ideas or thoughts on NP or campgrounds and routes would be appreciated.

You have no shortage of options ! Have you considered making your way into Southern Utah ? The NP's of Zion and Bryce would be a good place to aim for on the top of the 'loop' with a trip that would encompass Sedona area, GC, Lake Powell/Horseshoe bend, Bryce, Zion, Death Valley , Sequoia, Yosemite, SF and the coast highway. Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility but it depends on what pace you like to travel at. Some like to spend short periods in one place and see more places and others take a more indepth look at fewer. ***Note that if you do head to Yosemite, the Tioga Pass that crosses the Sierra's may not yet be open and if you are heading in from the east you may have to go around the mountains via Bakersfield or Lake Tahoe areas. Here's an RV trip that started from SF and covered many of the above NP's which might give you some ideas for campgrounds etc.

I would get the map out, do a little reading around the forums and then sit down with the family and get some attractions jotted down that appeals to all. Once you have some dots on the map we can help fill in the blanks and answer any specific questions. Get the kids involved with the planning so they have a veted interest in the trip, it will make it more enjoyable for all !
