where to stay between Boise ID. and Eureka, CA ?

Does anyone know the best town / place to stay the night between
Boise, ID and Eureka, CA?
I don't think my 6 year old can handle a 12 hour drive, so I would
like to stay somewhere sort of in between, but I want a nice,
clean hotel, not a dirty cheap motel.
I don't even know what city to stop in - any help?

We are going the last week of May 2013, and could possibly camp,
but it would be in a tent, and we would need running water, toilets, etc.
Prefer a hotel.

Lakeview oregon would be around the halfway point and appears to have several hotels to pick from.

It depends which route you take. Actually, a search shows choices in Lakeview are quite limited (the only chain hotel is a Best Western, the rest look like motels), if you go that way Klamath Falls would be a much better choice. If you go via the "northern" route Bend would be your best choice. Grants Pass or Medford would both be good choices if you can make it that far the first day. All 4 of these cities have a good choice of chain hotels in a wide budget range.

Willow Springs Guest Ranch is in Lakeview (if you take that route). It's rustic, but your 6 year old will likely think it's the best!
