  1. Default san antonio to santa fe

    Hi there,
We are traveling during spring break from San Antonio to Santa Fe. We need to do this in one day, with two small children. What is the fastest route? Google maps and Yahoo maps differ considerably in their recommendations and trip time, and we are most concerned with the most efficient way to get there, not very concerned with scenery! Thanks!

Default A lot for Kid's to endure.

Hello and welcome to the RTA forums !

From both of those mapping programs you mention and another one I use, they all seem agreed that I10 to US285 is the quickest route. Times will vary to some degree, but they are only 'estimates' at best and do not consider the needs of the 'real world', usually resulting in the times being over optimistic. No one can predict what delays you might come across, such as construction works or traffic congestion. You also need to consider plenty of short stops to take a break, to eat, go to the bathroom and to fill with gas and to let the Kid's let off some steam. These will take longer with young children.

When this is considered you should be thinking of up to 13 hours to make this trip and that really is too much in a single day with children to consider. Is there no way you could take an overnight stop and finish your trip the next morning? It would certainly make for a happier, healthier and safer journey !
