Golden Tower and Visitor Center
My wife and I will be visiting the North Platte, Ne area next weekend and wonder if the tower is the best place to view the switching yards and if the diner is a good place to eat.
Thanks in advance

Today, we visited the Golden Tower and Visitor at North Platte, Nebraska. Yes it is worth the visit especially if the tour guide is present to explain what you are seeing so far as the trains are concerned.
It was cool when we when down a floor to get an outdoor view of the rainyards.
It is very hard to imagine that all the switching engines are controlled by remote control meaning that no engineer is present in the train!
One note: there is a nice local cafe back in center city-Hobb E s. Great turkey salad sandwich and great corned beef sandwich...

PS We started the last leg of the Lincoln Highway in Cheyenne, Wy amid snow. but the roads even the back roads including the dirt road sections were clear....but it was brutally cold with wind. More later
