  1. Default NYC to Washington DC (car, bus or train)

    Hi,
In my next visit to NYC I'd like to spend one day in Washington DC.
I know one day might not be enough, but is all I'll have. I have seen some buses like BoltBus, Megabus, etc. but I think that for the price of 2 people I could get a car and have more flexibility with hours, etc.

The thing is we will be staying in Harlem (in W 150 St). Could you recommend any agencies near this location? Since we're flying back to Spain the day after, I am considering dropping the car off in JFK so we can also avoid the subway ride to the airport.

Do you think it would be difficult to drive out of NYC? And then to JFK? How bad is the traffic?

    Thanks!

    Default Train

    Hi, and welcome back.

A car in DC would definitely be a liability. I would take the train, and an early one at that, since you only have a day there. All the major attractions are close together, and definitely withing walking or a short bus ride distance from each other.

I have not used the Megabus, so can't comment on that. But from memory, the bus terminal was not all that close to the centre where the attractions are, whereas the railway station is quite close. It is a decade since I took the train there, but I don't think they will have moved the station. lol
