    Default SW in April

    Hello,

My friend and I are planning a big 7 (+/- 3) day trip across NM, CO, UT, AZ, CA.

    Our major POI's are:
    Los Alamos to Pagosa Springs
    Pagosa Springs to Durango
    Durango to Moab
    Moab to Zion National Park
Zion National Park to Grand Canyon North Rim
Grand Canyon North Rim to Las Vegas
Las Vegas to Lake Havasu City, AZ
Lake Havasu City, AZ to San Diego
San Diego to wine tasting in Cottonwood and Jerome AZ
Then back to Los Alamos Via Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM

We are particularly concerned with finding amazing water activities in Lake Havasu. We know it's a great place for boats and water sports, but since we will just be passing through, does anyone know of a convenient way for two roadtrippers to experience all the lake has to offer?

Are there any "must sees" along our route?

Should we anticipate any major roadblocks along the way?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

Even with all 10 days you listed as a maximum, I think you're going to have a very tough time fitting all of that in. You've listed 9-10 places to visit, and you've got several full days worth of driving to make it to all of those places. That simply doesn't leave much time for "amazing water activities" or "wine tasting."

I think your biggest roadblock is figuring out what kind of trip this will be. Is it going to be a trip where you go to places and actually explore them and do those fun activities, or is it going to be a trip where you are just driving from place to place, checking things off a list. There's not really a right or wrong answer, but you do have to make a choice because it can't be both.

And I almost missed that this will be an April roadtrip - that does mean one physical roadblock. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon closes for the winter and typically does not reopen until Mid-may, so that most likely will not be an available option.
