The 2 places that stand out to me are Crater Lake and Mount Shasta, they are in opposite directions.

Lava Beds National Monument is about 30 miles away.

The area around Klamath Falls is part of the Klamath Basin National Wildlife

Default High Desert Museum or Shakespeare?

High Desert Museum: up in Bend (North). Natural history stuff (birds and reptiles, etc).

Alleged to be a very nice drive through the eastern side of the Cascades (could be used on a loop back from or up to Bend), but I haven't done it myself so I'm just going on reputation here. 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive one way on US97; longer on the mountain loop.

Oregon Shakespeare festival in Ashland if you like live theater. Less than two hours one way, but looks like some curvy road mountain driving you may not want to do after dark.
