Aspen Colorado to International Falls, Minn
My wife and I are going to be driving from Aspen Colorado to International Falls Minnesota the last week of August. We would appreciate suggestions on route to avoid cities and congestion, see nice scenery, national and state parks, nice campgrounds possibly off-the-beaten track locations, lakes/rivers, etc. We plan on taking about four days to get there. Incidental to this road trip we would also like to do a three day weekend trip with my son and his wife out of International Falls. Would love suggestions on lodges, packages in Canada or Minnesota (maybe on a lake, reasonably remote, good fishing...might consider a fly-in depending on cost). Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds like a fun trip!
Welcome to the Roadtrip America forums.
It will be a leisurely trip over 4 days since it's only about 1400 total per quickest route. Of course, you have time to meander a bit and can drive through any interesting options to get there.
If you haven't visited there yet, this might be a good time to go through the Mt. Rushmore area. There are many things to see there like Deadwood, Crazy Horse Memorial, Black Hills, Badlands, and more.
I'm not that familiar with this area but I'm sure someone with good tips for you will pop in here. These discussions might provide some helpful information: Duluth area, Roads near International Falls, and things to do around Lake Superior. These should get you started.
