San Fran to Las Vegas

Hello,

We are coming from Perth Australia to do some driving around California at the start of April 2008. We have most of it sorted out but wanted to know the best way to drive from San Fran to Las Vegas in 3 days so that we can visit Yosemite and Death Valley.... We know that the Tioga Pass will be shut so what would be the best plan?

There are a few hundred threads about this trip, including at least one or two started in the past day or so that are also talking about this as a 3 day trip in the spring. I would strongly suggest searching or just browsing through the forum to find a truely overwhelming amount of information thats already here.

There are a few different ways to get to the other side, but if you've only got 3 days and are trying to fit in both Death Valley and Yosemite, then going around via Bakersfield is really your best bet.

Thats some very helpful links - one other thing - what can we expect of the weather? - are we likely to need to be prepared for driving on snow / ice ?

You might still see now on the mountains during your drive, but it is extremely unlike you will drive in any in April. Temps in Las Vegas in April will be approaching 95 degrees.
