  1. Default Road Trip San Francisco - New York in an Airstream!

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie, I need help planning a road trip for my boss. He's planning a one-way working road trip across America from San Francisco to New York. Details are sketchy at the moment but here's what I have so far:

    He's the sole traveler
    It's a 3-4 week trip
Wants to drive an airstream or similar
Needs power and space for a laptop and monitor
I need to figure out how he can get reliable fast internet

I've done a little research and as far as I can tell, only the big companies (elmonte/cruise america) do one way rentals. The retro airstreams my boss is thinking about only come in trailers and no one seems to rent out the new airstream models like the interstate. Some companies do rent out smaller Eco Vans but there's a minimum rental (40
    days)?

I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help me out with this and give me some good alternatives.

    Thanks for now, Sparkle73

    Default a tough one

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

I'll start out by saying that I have no idea if anyone rents airstreams at all, however, if there is one, I would suspect it would generally follow the same as other specialty cars (like high end sports cars, or classic cars).

That means it very unlikely that anyone will do these rentals for a one way trip, especially cross country, and if they are done at all you will likely pay and extremely high premium price for it.

RV trips are really not an economical way to travel anyway, but when you add in that you're talking about a solo traveler, is about the most expensive way you can make a trip like this.

So that begs the question, what is the point of this trip and what is the budget?

Any car will have space for a laptop, and as long as you have a power inverter, that shouldn't be an issue. Wi-Fi is available in most any motel, and tons of restaurants and the like, however, if you need to have it all the time, you should look at the options provided by the various cell phone providers.
