  1. Default Road Trip Philadelphia, PA to Tampa Bay, FL

Hello, me and 3-4 friends plan over the spring or summer to leave Philadelphia, PA and go down to Tampa Bay, FL.

What I am or we need some assistance is, what are some good spots to stop by on the way to FL. We would like to stop at good locations. We are going to take Rt 95 all the way down. So we do not want to venture off too far off the highway at each state, but we will drive short distances off the highway to see some good locations.

So is there anything off of RT 95 between Philadelphia, PA and Tampa Bay, FL??? I know there is South of the Border, but... looking for something better than that haha.

    Default Carolina BBQ

Going through North and South Carolina, if you get a chance to eat at a barbecue place, by all means, do so.

BBQ like you never had it before.

The first things you need to do is state how long you have for this trip and just what is of particular interests to you and your friends. It may help if you each take this fun quiz, and discuss the responses just to make sure you are all on the same page.

Then you might also like to check out this thread for things to do along I-95.

After that, when you have made further progress in your planning, you may like to come back here for comments.

    RoadDog is absolutely correct.

Within just a few miles (<5?) of the junction of I-95 and US 264, in Wilson, NC, lie Parker's Barbeque and Bill's Barbeque. Both are classic textbook examples of authentic Eastern NC style BBQ.

Parker's is on old US 301, the main north-south route prior to I-95's construction. In the two miles up US 301 from US 264 Bypass to Parker's lie a number of examples of old "Motor Court" motels, straight out of the 1950s.
