    Default Horseshoe Curve

    Hi Lifey -

Heading into central Altoona and South on 6th Avenue towards the Knickerbocker, I saw a small sign that gave direction to Horseshoe Curve.
Horseshoe curve is close by Altoona, which is just off of I-99.
Put "Burgoon road Blair, Pennsylvania 16601" into Google maps and it will bring you right to it.

All that is bringing up is a long list of attorneys. :-(

The Wiki page for Horsheshoe Curve has GPS coordinates. It's about 5 miles west of Altoona, you take 40th St. west out of town, that turns into Kittanning Point Rd., which turns into Burgoon Rd.

    Default The Hidden Message

Tim, I'm afraid that most people will miss perhaps the greatest takeaway from your report: Just relax and follow your instincts, whims, and predilections to have a great RoadTrip. Too many of the itineraries posted here are full of long drives, quick stops at "must sees" and a fruitless search for the "best" places along the road. Your report is a perfect example of the wonderful times to be had by just following the road where it might lead and savoring the experiences that simply cannot be predicted or planned for. Planning certainly has its place, but serendipity is what makes each RoadTrip unique. Thanks for the reminder.

    Default Despite........

........... or perhaps because of all the information posted here, I never did find the places which Tim highlighted with his great photos. :(

But in the process, I stumbled upon some interesting - and intriguing - sites. In the end I was so happy with my finds, I could not be bothered to spend more time and energy looking for that which I had originally set out to find.

Lifey will give details in her field report..... soon
