Toys on the road!

Howdy! I'm going on a big roadtrip to anywhere, and while I want to take advantage of events and concerts and towns, I also am trying to plan for the many a night that I'll be spending by myself. I'm going to be avoiding motels because I'm a poor post-college grad, and love cheap entertainment. Electricity probably won't be a ready option.

I'll be girded with an accordion that I decided to learn how to play (I'm a musician), an iPod with a host of music and podcasts, a newly repaired car radio (which I'm working on now), and a tennis ball...but I was curious as to what other roadtrippers brought with them for fun. I read somewhere about a kite, or books to read- what other things do you pack for unknown fun opportunities?

In addition to implements of fun -- here are a few hundred ideas for gear that we consider more-or-less essential on a road trip. One of the toys I like are juggling toys and this streamer-attached-ball-thingy. I may have to take a photo of one.
