    Thanks GLC for the help!
Looks like I will follow your suggestion regarding the road less traveled.
I will take the 5->14->395->6->70(in Utah) then continue to Ohio via I-70.

Disregarding a more "desolate" route, would in your opinion the 5>-14>-395->6->70 be a more "Scenic" beautiful route?

Thanks again for all your help!

Well, once you get over the Cajon Pass, in my opinion I-15 is not very "scenic" all the way to Vegas. Not only that, if you live in LA, you can go to Vegas any time you want.

Great point. Ok, now I need to figure out what potentials of food and lodging there are once I get on the 6 past bishop until the 70.

In my car I will have ample food and water supplies along with tent and handheld Ham radio equipment although I will still need gas :) and I would rather stay in motels most of the time if possible.
Looking at the maps it sure looks "Lonely" out there :) Which is a great thing on one hand but a bad thing on another (for finding food and lodging at least)

    Any suggestions or ideas?
On a full tank of Gas I should be able to get at least 300 miles.
Thanks again for all your assistance!

It shouldn't be too bad - it's 283 miles from Bishop to Ely, and there are services including a Best Western in Tonopah.

A new thought - if you have any interest in stuff like Area 51, you could take NV-375 from Warm Springs to US-93 - that's the Extraterrestrial Highway. US-93 will take you up to Ely, or you could take NE-319/UT-56 to Cedar City and get on the 15.

Oh no, now you have really done it! :)
Too many choices, I have driven from the 15 through the 93 From Vegas to Rochel and back in 1996. I do remember much of 93 being beautiful so perhaps it is time to do it again. Although following your first suggestion of taking the 395 to the 6 seems a little more "Adventurous"
