    western United States -- I am guessing in Yellowstone National Park

    Yes, that's the spot. Guess I can't stump this crowd.

    Most folks don't think of Yellowstone as a place to see petrified wood Someday. Someday I hope to hike the Specimen Ridge trail in Yellowstone.

    Speaking of trails, can anyone identify this one?

    You are correct, it's the Delicate Arch Trail.
