  1. Default Southern Utah

What a fabulous site this is!

I had the pleasure of experiencing some breathtaking hikes in Zion NP last year, namely The Narrows and Angel's Landing. My brother and I are ready to go back for more! So glad to see there are so many Southern Utah enthusiasts on this site.

We are hoping to get walk-in permits for Coyote Buttes North and/or South sometime during a four-day period in late April. I am hoping for some advice on other stunning hikes within the Southern Utah area. Ideally, we'd like to not venture out too far in order to try daily for the Coyote Buttes permits. Are there good hikes that can be accessed without permits? We are looking for day hikes and will likely stay in cheaper motels overnight.

    Capitol Reef looks so gorgeous.

Thanks again for taking the time to share any thoughts. So glad to be in good company here!

    Default Lots of Other Hikes

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

There are many more hiking trails in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument besides the Coyote Buttes. Trailheads should be easily reachable as day trips from anywhere you might be staying. Also have a look at Vermillion Cliffs National Monument.

Capitol Reef is great and overlooked. It is definitely worth a trip there. There a few short popular hikes and Spring Canyon is wonderful. Spring Canyon, the lower section, can be done as a day hike. It was stunning when I was there and there was hardly anybody there. There is easily a day of hiking there.

Also Bryce Canyon is fantastic. It gets crowded, because it is famous and beautiful, but still worth it. There are a couple obvious loop trails there.
