I have four days off of work and an itch to hit the road and get away!
I live in Chicago and honestly, have no idea which direction i should head in. Any ideas?
I want to feel the world rushing past my window.

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!
OK - So what's within a day and a half's drive from Chicago? That kind of range would let this trip be mostly about feeling the world rushing past your window, but still give you time to set and enjoy a goal....
Memphis, Vicksburg, Natchez and the Great River Road
Mammoth Cave, Great Smoky Mountains, Tail of the Dragon
Gettysburg, Washington, and the National Road
Door County, Colonial Michilimackinac, the Soo Locks, once around Lake Michigan
Niagara Falls, Erie Canal, Grand Army of the Republic Highway (US-6 across northern Pennsylvania)
Now you may have too many ideas!

I think it would be fun to head up to Michigan and do a coast hugging trip and stop at different areas along lake Michigan.
Another place we love to spend time is Ludington, MI. Cute little town on the Lake with Ludington State Park at it's backdoor.
Just a thought! :-)
