Toronto Canada - Burlington Vermont

Hi,

I'm going to be making a drive down to Burlington Vermont from Toronto this october to visit a friend, and I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for scenic routes along the way. I know the foliage is great this time of year, and I'm super happy for what people tell me is a really pretty drive. Google suggests crossing over through cornwall, but i'm open to border crossings at other points.

Any suggestions?

I hope your trip is quite soon, because foliage in that area is already at peak and could be starting to fade in just a few weeks. In any event, If I had that trip to make, what I'd do is start at the very beginning with a nice relaxing ferry ride across Lake Champlain to Plattsburg and then take NY-3 through the Adirondacks to Watertown. A short drive up I-81 would put me in the Thousand Islands region of the St. Lawrence. Finally, a combination of ON-33, ON-2 and ON-401 would take me along the north shore of Lake Ontario to Toronto. I think that's about as scenic a route as you're going to find. Wish I could join you - I really miss fall in New England.
