    Default West Coast Gas question

Hello! My Wife and I will be coming from England to tour California on a Harley Davidson in September. I already have some idea for routes etc but have a question on some places.

We will be staying near Oakhurst for a couple of nights and plan to ride into Yosemite National Park. What is the availability of petrol (gas) in that area? All the elecronic map routes I have, show no gas stations in the park. Is that correct? With the two of us riding, the bike only has a 120 mile tank range and so I need to refuel every 90 miles max to be safe.

We will also be doing PCH from Carmel to LA; again there appear to be limited gas stations. Is that correct?

    Many thanks for your help.

Sounds like an excellent time to be visiting California -- Welcome to the Great American RoadTrip Forum!

    Shouldn't be much of a problem ---
Gas Stations: Gas stations are open year-round at Wawona and at Crane Flat, and seasonally at Tuolumne Meadows on Tioga Road. Gas is also available just outside the park in El Portal (Highway 140). Pay-at-pump service is available 24 hours-a-day with a debit or credit card. The Yosemite Village Garage handles major repairs. Emergency road service is available by calling (209) 372-8320.

There are some limitations, but there will be plenty of fueling locations within your range.

One of the best motorcycle touring sites for California is managed by RTA forum member, Pashnit, I would check out his forums for more information. ...And his photos will make you drool for getting over here early and staying late!

    Default Not in Yosemite Valley

Hello and welcome to the R.T.A forums

But in and around the park

here is some info on those.

If you are planning on travelling across the Tioga pass [HWY120],which i srongly recomend as it's a fantastic mountain drive with amazing views, then there is also gas available at the junction of HWY120 and HWY 395. If you do this, there is a fantastic diner behind the garage called "Woah Nellies Dellie" for great food.

Whilst in Yosemite don't miss the opportunity to go up glacier point the view is spectacular. A sneak preview available here LOL!

I'm not sure about the PCH but there might be something in this bikers ride forum that also contains some fantastic pictures. But i'm sure someone who is familiar with the coast road, will come along with the info.
I think parts of the road are actually closed at the moment due to fires but should'nt be a concern when you go.

Anymore questions about aspects of your trip we can help you with then fire away. :-)
