Default San Francisco to Las Vegas - help please!

Hi everyone. I have been reading some of the posts on your forum and you all seem so helpful I was wondering if you could give me some advice! My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to America (my first!) in Mid-September. At the moment we plan to fly in to SF and spend about 10 days driving to Las Vegas with plenty of diversions on the way. This is all the plan we have so far - except for my boyf wanting to hire a Harley for a day! Could anyone suggest a good route for us? I've heard Yosemite shouldn't be missed and of course the Grand Canyon but apart from that we've no idea! Thanks x

    Default A (One) Route? No

Welcome aboard the RoadTrip America Forums!

Many, many people have taken that general trip and discussed their plans here abouts. Far better than my making A suggestion would be for you to read through all their ideas.

    Default lots to do

    hello there and welcome.
there are quite a few options and will depend on your main interests such as citys or landscapes or a good mix.san francisco is a lovely city and i would recommend a trip to alcatraz while there,it's a great experience, along with pier 39 with it's shops and retauraunts. and i would agree yosemite is a must see,it's out of this world. if your finishing your trip in las vegas then the first part of our trip[although in an r.v] from san fran to vegas may give you some ideas.when you have some more thoughts come back with some questions,a lot will depend on how much time you want to spend travelling and how much "rested up".

    Default Mustang Rental

My boyfriend and I want to hire a convertible Mustang, picking up from San Francisco and dropping off at Las Vegas. I have been searching the net but I am having difficulty finding a company that will (1) guarantee it will be a Mustang - and not 'something similar'; and (2) allow us to pick up and drop off in different places. We are both over 25 so that isn't a problem. Can anyone help please?

    Default tough

I'm not sure I have a good answer for you. There are very few places that will guarentee the specific model of car, but its not totally uncommon. I know Hertz has a specialty line of premium cars, like Mustangs, Hummers, Town Cars, and other unique cars that you can reserve which I assume would mean you would get that specific model.

However, the other problem is that premium cars often are not allowed on one-way rentals. We actually see the same problem pretty frequently with people looking to rent minivans one way, since its not a standard sedan its much more difficult to find a place that will meet your needs.

About the best advice I can give is to look around until you find what you need, but be aware that you might have to sacrifice either the one-way rental or it being a mustang and only a mustang.
