You'll be fine. You'll want to book one for your first night though as immigration want an address. And, if you're flying from T5, you'll need an address so they know where to deliver your bags when they lose them!

what type of cig lighter is in american cars? is it the same as the uk? or will i have to get a new ipod charger?

Yes, they're the same. Tho you may have two or three hidden away in different places!
