You have me convinced Mark.... our 'next trip' to the US will definately have to take in Seqoia and Kings Canyon NP's - a spectacular region in its own rights !! (yes, we WILL be back in future years to cover a lot more of the countryside there).

I agree with you on the pic of Glacier Point from 'Pashnit' - it's a magical place like no ther view in the world - definately on our 'places to visit' list !! Likewise the images of Big Sur and the PCH... it's certainly encouraged us to take the drive down the coast. Even Pashnit's suggestion in one of the threads in taking the back road as an option between Yos. and the coast looks and sounds very interesting !!

Glad it works for you -- The pay-back is that you post news about your trip and we keep the info real and current as much as possible.

...And one more thing. I think October is just about the perfect time for roadtripping in North America, you are going to have a blast!

If time allows in Vegas think about a trip N on Highway 93, very scenic ... but it is hard to depart "the strip."

NY: if arriving in JFK take the train to city. I'm originally from NYC, drop a line if you need a hint ... like all NYC mass transit it's a bit user hostile, but much, much cheaper and convienent than a taxi/bus.

SF: by all means drive the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), if only as a day trip. Recommend a trip to Point Arena and back. If you only had time for one day trip in SF (PCH or wine country), I'd rec the PCH.

    Enjoy!

Sounds like a fabulous trip you have planned and I LOVE that you're getting married in Vegas! I have no real substantive suggestions here as I've never really been out west (other than flying into San Francisco on my way to Australia!). Just wanted to suggest that you and your bride visit the South on "y'all's" next visit. My best friend married an Australian and has lived in the Blue Mountains for 20 years. She brought her husband here to visit in the Springtime and we toured Charleston and Savannah and he loved it!

Congrats and best of luck on your trip and your new life!!
